TAITA TAVETA UNIVERSITY STUDENT LEADER MEETS MWATATE AREA MP Hon. ANDREW MWADIME

Hon. Mwadime and the student leader engaging some locals

Varsity student leader Mr. Harizon Baba owino over the weekend had an appointment with honorable Andrew Mwadime the area Mp of Mwatate constituency in which the Tiata Taveta University college is located.

Both gentlemen had a half day long in depth discussion about enhancement of the student and community relationship and finding a way of involving the local leaders to assist in improvement of student welfare and also their involvement in community activities

On matters regarding student welfare, the chairman expressed the discomfort that the students had constantly been facing in regard to certain fundamental yet lucking amenities and the recurrent water issues that has not only been facing the institution but also the local community residents.

In his response, the area mp acknowledged that he was aware of the above and said that he has all along been in close ties with the varsity admin in regard to the matter. He categorically stated that over the past few months there has been installations of diversion pipelines  from the main Mzima springs-Mombasa water pipeline . This will be one way for areas around college, mrabenyi and mwatate township to constantly get water all year round

Given the vote registration exercise that is already up, the student leader reminded the mp of the prospective student voters  and members of the college estimated at over 2000. Mr. Mwadime promised to jointly facilitate and help coordinate the exercise with the county IEBC officials as well us the Student union in a few weeks time

Hon. Andrew Mwadime also a former student leader at Kenyatta University later on left together with Baba Owino for a meet the people evening, visiting a few area residents who had sought his help regarding certain land issues. Later on they shared light moments before the MP left for his home in Mwatate.
