The vice of our generation; Cheating

We all want something out of the partners we have. Either married or in a relationship, trust forms the basis of every foundation that is laid down. Cheating is one of the things that no one ever anticipates for since before even getting into a commitment with anyone we always believe that respect goes hand in hand. But what happens when they lose respect for you or what happens when one of the partner feels the need to walk out of the matrimonial home? Cheating begins and sometimes we are not aware of that and neither are they stupid to let you know about it. Cheating is unacceptable. It emotionally damages the partner who is not engaging in it.

What causes more pain in a relationship is not the fact that your partner is not caring or loving enough but just lying, keeping little secrets and making you believe that you are part of them. Cheating makes the other partner feel unworthy and disrespected. This sometimes can get someone depressed and even wondering what could have gone wrong. Questions like am I good enough? Do I not satisfy them as a partner? Am I not fulfilling my core duties as the other person? And so many more keep on lingering in their brains. Additionally, others can even go to the extent of committing suicide since they believe they are not fit enough for the other. The feeling of not deserving is reason enough to make someone wallow in self-pity.

A commitment is a covenant between two people. Therefore, this amounts to a promise. Promises are not meant to be broken but some people tend to forget that there is something that holds them to the other. When someone goes out of their way to cheat on someone they heartbreak them. They break a promise and the trust they had for their partners goes down the drain. Building the trust again might take some time since most people after being cheated on either walk out on their partners or build a wall around themselves.

It is advisable to let the other know that you are no longer happy with them. This saves on a lot of explanations that would be required during a confrontation. If at all we loved our partners, sparing them the shame, pain and the pity parties that come with being cheated on, would count. Cheating is not acceptable in any exclusive relationship. If you have to cheat on your partner respect them enough and let them go.
