The Week’s Happenings

This has indeed been a week of surprises, we woke up Monday morning to the sad news of Bob Collymore’s passing which left most Kenyans shocked. Unexpected but it still happened. One of the most loved and philanthropic CEO’s in Kenya’s history passed on to glory and left a world that most people can’t imagine without him.

His name was a household name used by most Kenyans when cursing out Safaricom or praising it, weirdly most of us Kenyans had no idea who Bob really was. Over the course of the week we have come to learn of the man he was and how he impacted various lives differently.

We knew Bob the CEO but a look into the tributes that were made during his memorial services and on social media by people who knew him personally has definitely given us a glimpse of who Bob the Man really was. From Tsavo media Group, condolences to the family and May his soul rest in eternal piece. Go sing with the angels Mr Collymore.

On a twist of events, Governor Granton Samboja of Taita Taveta County on Tuesday kicked off the process of having the county government of Taita Taveta dissolved. After going through a number of differences with MCAs in his county, the governor expressed his wish in a press conference in which he asked the president to dissolve the county administration. This came as shock to most Kenyans and especially members of Taita Taveta County as it was least expected.
