As a county we have wasted so many grades. Says Senator’s Office Manager, Mr. Laban Mwashigadi.

On 15th, Saturday at the Taita Taveta Professional Women Association 2nd annual award gala, the Manager at the county senator’s office Mr. Laban Mwashigadi, remarked on the need to have the county set ideal policies to utilize the grades often wasted. By this he meant the grade D’s and below. Especially at secondary level.

While narrating on various accounts that have seen very able students miss out on tertiary institutions due to bad grades, Mr. Laban, an educationist emphasized on the need to set various absorption structures and mechanisms for even the not so good grades. He also encourage partnerships to enable young people to not only get the education but also the opportunities

“As a county we have wasted so many grades, and it’s for this reason through the Johnes Mwaruma Foundation, we are devising means to explore the potentials that exist in young people despite their grades” he said.

Speaking of which, he noted that the program so far has had over 100 fully sponsored students in various fields and levels of education. And as a result has started registering various success stories. Mid this year the foundation partnered with Taita Taveta University, facilitation scholarships for various students from Taita Taveta County pursuing diplomas and degrees at the institution, with 80% being the female gender.
