Kenyan graduate, don’t just sit get up!

As young people most of the time we have no idea where our lives are headed to and how to go about it. We have no idea who we are, and we cant tell if life is fine or not. We live in this cocoons our parents have made for us with ideas that they have instilled in us, and we do not want to get out of the bracket of their approval. As a graduate I can clearly say that it sometimes takes a lot for one to tell their parents they are not following the path that has been set out for them.

Most of us young kenyans are studying courses that were chosen by our parents and we are not happy with our lives. Regardless to this, you will finish uni and go back home and wait for the promised job your dad’s or mum’s friend said they can get you.

Some of us do get the job, the other group find ourselves at home a year later with no prospects and nothing to do. Weirdly, despite this fact most of us don’t get out of the designed path our parents chose rather we sit and wait for this given job, like jobs fall like manna. On the other hand there are those who graduate, frame up the degree, hang them on the wall, and go out to hustle like class-8 drop outs or learn a skill that can bring in the money.

There is this misconception that there are no jobs in Kenya, how do you expect there to be jobs when our youths are not innovative. The lack of innovation is what is killing our economy. At the end of each year people graduate expecting to get jobs but no one seats and comes up with an idea that will create employment for themselves and others as well.

The best thing one can do in an economy like ours is wake up and find an opportunity in a place where opportunities have been known to be for the designated few. Our country is ridden with so many problems that need solutions and the best thing about them is that you can turn them into the money making schemes. There is always an opportunity in every problem, you only have to look for it.

At the end of the day no one is better off, the important thing is none of us is sleeping on an empty stomach, that is the end goal. Elon musk is one of the greatest entrepreneurs in the world because he finds solutions to problems and fixes that, and in the process he makes his mulla. He does not wallow in self pity, he finds a solution to the problem solves it and makes the world a better place for himself as well as others, while in the same time he makes good money in the process.
