He confesses to be a great admirer of the incumbent SONU chairman Babu Owino, and it is such a coincidence they share the second name.-(owino) Definitely he hopes to meet him given that he now qualifies as a counterpart of the aforementioned.
A soccer star by birth or rather nature, HARIZON ventured into SOTTUC student politics in a quick and unlikely turn of events.
Earlier on, given his interest in sports and desire to change the face of sports at large in TAITA TAVETA UNIVERSITY COLLEGE, Harizon contemplated vying for the sport secretary in the same elections.
However, a lot more awaited him.
A while back after an inexplicable policy change on the academic calendar within the institution, he consolidated fellow classmates-(Mining Engineering year-3) to stage a demo that brought the institution to a stand-still fearing that the same policy change would lead to extension of the long holiday.
The same had affected one class already and instead of the usual 4month holiday, they got an additional 4 months
The demo forced the senior staff to give the student audience and stage an impromptu meeting within the varsity hall and lasted close to 3hours.
With no powers back then, he, in a unanimous decision was made to chair that impromptu meeting in which the institution’s Principal Prof. Hamadi Boga promised a reverse of the policy.
That is arguably what put Harizon fondly referred to as baba by his aides, into the limelight. He foresaw a much bigger duty other than serving as a sports secretary and thereafter went for the top seat.
As a successful captain of both his class soccer team and the varsity spots team, he was determined to captain the entire union into a new dawn- a dawn in which comrades’ power shall be revived. In one of his address he talked about the 9TH Month arriving and that it was time for the union and comrades to deliver.
It is interesting that over 950 out of about 1400 of the comrades that voted remembered his efforts back then and regardless of their ethnic backgrounds vote in HARIZON to help him finish the fight and realize a new dawn
His victory in this elections dint come much as a surprise given the margin however there were tensions earlier on as some factions of the electorate speculated ill motives from the opponents.
IT OBVIOUSLY TURNS OUT THAT HE DESERVED THE TOP SEAT. HOWEVER,THE BIG QUESTION NOW IS WHETHER HE’LL BE ABLE TO DELIVER HIS PROMISES
