And yes, it’s about time we step up and show the world that we matter. one of the groups genuine aims, among others is that this forum will help a great deal steering us through that course'[/epq-quote]As the heat boils down on negative rants in the recent past against the ‘Taita taveta woman’, especially on the social media, a group of visionaries have been on the verge of setting up a forum and umbrella body with a focus of bringing together and essentially to network virtually all women across the professional realm regionally
In this premier edition a lot is expected come 20th January at Vacani Resort. The event set to feature and engage woman from diverse professional backgrounds is expected to set precedence as an umbrella organization set to drive further and at large the women empowerment agenda within the county.
In this edition the organizers seemingly found the perfect fit for the pioneer chief guest and Keynote speaker, among other speakers.
H.E. Majala Mlagui, the current deputy governor, is a woman with lots of experience in mining and more specifically on gemmology. The Ted fellow and Founder and CEO of Thamani has been lauded as a defender of the young and small scale miners and artisans. Equally she has been serving critically as member of the Kenya Chamber of mines amongst other roles in her robust portfolio.
She certainly will bring forth lots of insight during this forum and a hopefully is expected to expound more on the county agenda regarding the women and by extension the girl child
Both the first and 2nd woman reps of Taita Taveta County, Joyce Lay and Lydia Haika, respectively will grace the event. And undoubtedly will bring exceptional knowledge and leadership experience to the table. Notable as well is the County first lady H.E. Stella Samboja as one of the key speakers alongside others.
Milka Righa, as the brainchild and equally on behalf of her colleagues and committee members, believe this is not just a network set to rise and fall, but instead it’s meant to rise, stay and soar even higher. ”We have all it takes as women to unleash our maximum potential, we got all the means, it just needs unity of purpose and collaboration towards achieving our goals collectively. ” She quipped. ‘ It’s about time we got rid of certain stereotypes meant to demean women and more so the Taita Taveta Woman.
