[dropcap]T[/dropcap]aita Taveta University through the MICTEC Club aided by the offices of the Dean and the students union, held yet again the Academic expo at the varsity auditorium 29th Jan 2018. The forum essentially meant for the students too exhibit ans showcase various academic skills an talent had a fair attendance for both the morning and afternoon sessions

The 5 hr long sessions commence around mid morning and ende at 4.00 PM with various remarks from the organizing committee led by the controversial SATTU Academic secretary Mr, Benson Huffner and also from select judges who mainly gave observatory remarks. In attendance too was the varsity Dean Mr Misango and Student Counselor featuring as a key guest for the expo
Impressed by what the presenters offered , most of the judges expressed confidence on a future of students being potential employers instead of been employed.

In the dean remarks reassure the student fraternity of the admins effort to ensure the student welfare is taken care of. Mr. Misango noted the dominance of ICT related projects during this expo and challenged students to equally take on and explore disciplines that may seem passive yet are Quite Critical.
‘In the next edition of such an event i would like to see presentation of models in Economics, Accounting, HR , and so on. Tell us the best ways to curb inflation costs for instance. These are some f our day to day experiences that equally need solutions from the young and brilliant minds that you have’ He reiterated.
On behalf of the Judges, Lecture Mwakio highlighted on the criteria and use in selections of the winner, key among them being, dress code and body language, eloquence, presentation, budges, revenue models, viability, relevance and Uniqueness among the. The bench’s average was the ultimate determination of the best projects for the day
He encouraged students to draw and note the thin line between defending oneself and defending the project especially in instances where there was criticism and queries either from the judges or the attendees at large. He equally emphasized on the need of collaborations among students, that could be even be interdepartmental
‘Learn to involve fellow students who could be good in a aspect that your are not. It makes more sense having teams that can encompass It and marketing students and working on one project or so’ He said
Later on The awarding session followed, and with Judge Rehema reading out the top Three winners of the day. The highlight victor must have been Phlegon Nyongesa , former miss university who scooped both awards under the Mathematics and Mining Categories, an attestation of beauty and brains once again
Speaking to the Academic secretary Benson Huffner, he summarized the day as a success, noting however that more could have been done provided there would have been better facilitation from both student union level and the administration at large.
”We operate and a very tight budget, and inasmuch as a section of comrades think that normally these events ar for our personal gains, it’s not. what we have we try as much to be inclusive of everyone involve through organizing stages, to the event inclusive of the awards. In the end The allowances are neither much. In general i do my best to deliver my best within my mandate, Regardless” He said
In the closing Remarks. Union chairman Bernard Wambua, Thanked everyone involved and urge the next chord to take the expo serious and fancied it as backbone of student activities in any academic setting. subliminally he lobbied for the unions credit having held this 3 years down the line since the last Exo was held.
